This screenshot shows the product settings that might be used for a tube of tomato purée purchased from the supermarket.

 

Let's assume that the instructions on the tube say that it can be:

• kept in the cupboard, and ideally used before its best-before date

• once opened, kept in the fridge, for up to 4 weeks.

 

The Store and Open actions are therefore applicable, whereas the Freeze action is not.

 

If the best-before date is irrelevant, because it will be a long time in the future, you have two options: either disable the Store action, or enable the Store action, and set the expiry type to "Never".

In the first case, only the Open action will be available, and you will be able to track only opened tubes of tomato purée. When using the Open action, you won't need to enter a best-before date.

​

In the second case, both the Store and Open actions will be available, and you will be able to track both unopened and opened tubes of tomato purée. When using either the Store or Open action, you won't need to enter a best-before date.

Store action

The information in the screenshot describes a stored tube of tomato purée. This information has been auto-filled, and needs to be checked.

You will probably need to change the best-before date, which has a default value of Today. You could also change the name and location, and add a note.
 

To confirm the action, tap on Save, otherwise tap on Cancel.

Confirming the action will store a tube of tomato purée in your cupboard. It will be listed as a stock item in your Stock tab. This stock item will have an Open action button, so that you can open it later.

​

Note that if the Store action had an expiry date of "Never", as suggested above, you would not need to enter a best-before date.

Open action

You will probably need to change the best-before date, which has a default value of Today. If you didn't open it today, you will also need to enter the date of opening. You could also change the name and location, and add a note.
 

To confirm the action, tap on Save, otherwise tap on Cancel.

Confirming the action will put an opened tube of tomato purée in your fridge. It will be listed as a stock item in your Stock tab.
